Requesting Letters of Recommendation

Many private universities, out-of-state colleges, scholarships, and special programs or majors may request letters of recommendation.

All Common Application schools require letters of recommendation from your school counselor, which is part of the Secondary School Report. Most will require teacher letters of recommendation as well.

UC and CSU's do not require letters of recommendation.

To request a letter of recommendation, Students must request both their teacher and counselor letteres in person by the following deadlines:

October 1st: For college applications due before November 15th.

November 1st: For college applications due after November 15th.

Scholarships, Internships, and Other Programs: Three weeks before application deadline.
