Introduction to Business Communication

This course provides an in-depth, hands-on introduction to business communication. Topics include the operating system and communication through digital documents, presentations, data computation and presentation, as well as how we represent ourselves through digital media to society. This course applies the principles of ethical and effective communication in the creation of business letters, memos, emails, as well as written and oral reports for a variety of business situations.


Virtual Enterprise

This​ ​course​ ​provides​ ​entry-level​ ​training​ ​in​ ​working​ ​in​ ​a​ ​real ​ business​ ​ environment.​ ​ Virtual​ ​ Enterprise​ ​ is​ ​ ​a simulated​ ​business​ ​that​ ​is ​set​ ​​up ​​and​ run​ ​ by​ ​ students.​ ​ The​​ students​ ​ determine​ ​ the​ ​ nature​​ ​of ​ their business,​ ​its​ ​products​ ​and​ ​services,​ ​its​ ​management​ ​and​ ​structure,​ ​and​ ​learn​ ​the​ ​daily ​ operations​ ​ of​ ​ a​ business​ ​under​ ​the ​​guidance ​ and​ ​ support​ ​of​ ​ a​ ​ real​​ business​ ​ partner.​ ​ Instruction​ ​ covers​ ​ the​ ​ following​ areas:​ ​economic​ ​fundamentals​ ​and​ ​free​ ​market​ ​system,​ ​business​ ​organization,​ ​and​ ​office​ ​technology.This one-year course satisfies the State of California economics requirement for graduation. Students will receive an overview of micro and macroeconomics. They will study supply and demand, the Federal Reserve System, business organizations and market structure, labor and government including taxation by state and federal governments, the stock market and international transactions.  

Prerequisite: No Prerequisite. Suggested to take Introduction to Business Communication prior to taking Virtual Enterprise


Advanced Business Management

Grades 12 CHS Graduation: Elective  UC/CSU A-G: “G” Video Description: Coming Soon

This course is a continuations of Virtual Enterprise and includes task-based curriculum integrating various business topics including, Accounting, Personal Finance, Administration, Operations, Communications, Human Resources, Sales & Marketing, and Economics. Focus will be on project-based curriculum accented by case studies and community involvement. An Emphasis will be placed on leadership and management.

Business Environments

Grades 11-12 CHS Graduation: Elective  UC/CSU A-G: “G” Video Description: Coming Soon

Business Environments (Work Experience Education (WEE)) is designed to give the student a thorough knowledge of the fundamental principles of work and to provide training in a semi-skilled/skilled service occupation. The principles are applied to actual school-approved work related work sites on a part-time basis. The classroom instructor is the WEE teacher coordinator and works with the student to be successful. Real world experiences through hands-on applications at the work site are strengthened through related classwork. The students’ general educational background is enhanced as it relates to the students’ employment. This also teaches the student the role of worker and citizen. This knowledge is helpful to each student for personal employment/careers and further educational obtainment. The student must pass both classroom and employer’s evaluation to receive credit. Students are responsible for transportation to their work site.

This course can be taken for credit for 4 semesters.
