Wood 1

Students will learn safety skills with hand tools, power tools, and equipment. Students will learn techniques in working with wood, finishing and refinishing, wood joinery, basic construction of shelves, stools, and small projects. Students will have an opportunity to design and make personally selected projects such as an electric guitar using many integrated skills of math, reading, writing and communicating. Students will also have the opportunity to design and machine a project using our computer numerically controlled equipment just as in manufacturing. Skills and techniques learned are transferable to future employment in manufacturing. User materials fees may be required.

Students will utilize their skills learned in Wood 1 to construct furniture, shelves and cabinets, etc. using hand tools, power tools and machines. Students can design and build an electric guitar. Other class projects available are almost endless and up to the student's individual desire and capability. Students have the opportunity to design and machine a project using our computer numerically controlled equipment just as in manufacturing. Skills and techniques learned are transferable to many careers in production, manufacturing and construction. User materials fees may be required.
