Hello Seniors,

We have received our confirmation for Grad Night and we are going to Disneyland!!

It’s never too earlier to start planning and saving, we are never sure if we will receive a grant from the City of Carlsbad to help with transportation and student scholarships until late in the game.  We are only given a certain amount of tickets and they have to be all paid for by May 1st.

Tickets will be $130.00 ($135 for credit with processing fee) and include entrance into both Disneyland and California Adventure for special Senior activities and charter bus transportation to and from Disney.  Students MUST take the bus to and from and annual passes are not able to be used for this special event. Tickets will go up to $150 after March 1st.  Please plan ahead and get your tickets for the best price available. We have to send a check in for ALL tickets on May 1st. and only purchase a couple extra for any last minute

Please complete the form attached and return it to the ASB Finance office with a payment, you can pay by cash check or credit card, your credit card information will be shredded when your card is processed.  Once we receive your payment you and your student will be sent a text message confirming your receipt of payment.  Please make sure student ID and cell phone numbers are legible and included.  We need both to put them into our new software which will manage the 500+ students who will be attending.

I you have any questions please email Kym Szalkiewicz, PTSA VP of Programs at kyms@me.com or text at 760-703-2379.

Thank you,

The APYLP reaches out to Asian and Pacific Islander youth in California to build on their understanding of what it means to be Asian and Pacific Islander American students in today’s culturally and ethnically diverse society. The high school conference offers group workshops on leadership development, cultural identity and awareness, the legislative process, and public speaking skills as well as an opportunity to participate in mock legislative sessions and to hear from elected officials and prominent speakers from the Asian and Pacific Islander community.

Fifty juniors and seniors will be selected from the statewide applicants to participate in the conference on April 11–14, 2019, in Sacramento. APYLP will pay all expenses for the participants including travel, lodging, and meals through sponsorships from private corporations, higher education institutions, professional
organizations, and individuals.

The organization is especially interested in reaching students who have leadership potential but have difficulty developing or realizing that potential due to language, economic, cultural, or other barriers. Applications must be postmarked no later than Thursday, November 15, 2018.

For more information, visit the APYLP website at http://www.apylp.org.

Friday, October 5th is Lancer Day in Carlsbad to celebrate Carlsbad High School’s 61st Homecoming.  Here is a schedule of events.

The Lancer Day Assembly takes place from 12:30 pm-1:15pm in Lancer Arena.  During the assembly there will be performances by choir, orchestra, cheer, dance, and band. This year’s Grand Marshal, Tod Muilenburg, will be introduced and finally there will be the presentation of this year’s Homecoming Court and crowning of the 2018 Lancer Day King and Queen.

At 2:00 pm the annual Lancer Day Parade will take place downtown.  The parade begins on Pine St. in front of the Senior Center and the parade route this year follows Pine St. to Madison St to Walnut Ave to Roosevelt St to Oak Ave. to Harding St and back to Pine St.  The parade includes many groups from Carlsbad High School as well as representatives from all middle and elementary schools in the Carlsbad Unified School District. (route map is attached below)

The day finishes at Bob Mcallister field at Swede Krcmar Stadium, with the Homecoming Football game vs Oceanside. The JV game begins at 4:30 pm and the Varsity game begins at 7:00 pm. There will be a fantastic halftime show where the court is announced and our award winning Band, Dance, and Cheer groups will perform.  This year once again there will be a fireworks display at the end of the game.
